Old Masters

National Museum of Australia

2013

The Old Masters Exhibition Is a spectacular celebration of Australia's greatest bark painters showcasing the Aboriginal painters from Arnhem Land who carried one of the oldest continuing traditions of art into the modern era.

Designed by Lea Barnett (Design Director at CampbellBarnett), in association with Carola Salazar of Five Spaces Design, the exhibition had many objectives and challenges as it grappled with a large space, a modest budget and complex circulation issues, as well as the notion of promoting bark paintings as 'high art'.
